Current EU waste policy fails to adequately promote waste prevention and preparation for re-use activities. Consequently the vast majority of reusable electrical appliances, furniture and textiles discarded by EU citizens are prematurely recycled, landfilled or incinerated. The result is a huge waste of energy and resources and a missed opportunity for boosting employment in the re-use sector. Demonstration in Parma

Next 11th July, Zero Waste Italy participates in a demonstration in Parma to oppose a legislative change that would lead to waste imports from all over Italy to be incinerated in the plant in Parma. This legislative change comes after Parma took the road towards Zero Waste and its incineration plant became redundant. Now policy makers intend to make an obsolete way of treating waste economically viable by importing waste.
